Being able to hear clearly can affect nearly every part of daily life — from having a conversation and understanding important information to connecting with the people and resources around you. For people experiencing homelessness, access to hearing assistance can be especially difficult.
When Sertoma International had hearing amplifiers available to help people in need, Home for the Homeless helped connect that generosity with a place where it could make an immediate difference.
Connecting Resources With the Right Community
Home for the Homeless coordinated a donation of hearing amplifiers from Sertoma International to Street Support KC, a Kansas City nonprofit providing direct outreach to people experiencing homelessness.
By helping coordinate the partnership and ensuring the amplifiers reached Street Support KC, Home for the Homeless helped put this resource directly into the hands of an organization already working face-to-face with people who could benefit from it.
Street Support KC was then able to distribute the hearing amplifiers through its homeless outreach, giving individuals access to hearing assistance they may not otherwise have been able to obtain.
Creating Impact Through Connection
Sometimes making a difference means providing direct assistance. Other times, it means bringing together organizations that each have something important to contribute.
Sertoma International supplied the hearing amplifiers. Street Support KC had the relationships and outreach needed to get them to people experiencing homelessness. Home for the Homeless helped connect the two and coordinate the donation.
By bringing the right resources and organizations together, Home for the Homeless helped turn a generous donation into practical support for people who needed it.
