Helping Street Support KC Provide 100 Pairs of Reading Glasses

For people experiencing homelessness, something as simple as a pair of reading glasses can make a meaningful difference.

Street Support KC regularly connects with individuals who have difficulty reading paperwork, medication instructions, resource information and other everyday materials because they don't have access to the glasses they need. While reading glasses are relatively inexpensive, they can be difficult to prioritize when someone is also facing challenges like housing instability, food insecurity and limited access to healthcare.

Meeting a Practical Need

Home for the Homeless provided funding that allowed Street Support KC to purchase 100 pairs of reading glasses in a variety of strengths.

The glasses are distributed directly at Street Support KC's outreach events, giving individuals the opportunity to find a pair that works for them and take it at no cost.

It's a simple resource with an immediate impact—helping someone read more comfortably, navigate important information and handle everyday tasks with greater independence.

Partnership in Action

This is exactly the kind of practical support Home for the Homeless was created to provide. By partnering with organizations already working directly within the community, we can identify specific needs and help provide the resources to address them.

100 pairs of glasses. One straightforward need. And another example of what can happen when local organizations work together.
